1. The English Department Association was inaugurated on 23rd of January 2018 by Dr. E.V. Fathima, Assistant Professor and Head of the Deparment of English, KMM Govt. Women's College, Kannur. The inaugural function was followed by an interactive session for the students of the department on Translation: Theory and Practice with Dr. E.V.Fathima.
2. The department organized a one day invited lecture on Literary Theory and Criticism on 27th of February by Dr.C.GShyamala, Assistant Professor, Post- graduate Department of English and Research Centre for Comparative Studies,Mercy College, Palakkad. The students of the department got a panoramic understanding of various literary theories and its effective practice.
3. The Department also had the opportunity to host a lecture of interdisciplinary nature on Science, Philosophy and Literature by Dr. T.V. Sajeev, Senior Research Scientist, Kerala Forest Research Department.
4. The department organized one day lecture on Introduction to Indian Aesthetics by Shri. Thulasi Das. B, Assistant Professor, Department of Studies in English, Kannur University on 24th of March, 2018.

1. The department conducted a short film competition for the young movie enthusiasts of the college. The film titled Groupism, made by the final Year B.Sc Zoology students of the college was adjudged the best among the three entries. The winners were given a cash award.
2. A one-day National Undergraduate Colloquium on Literature was organized . The colloquium offered a platform for the undergraduate students of English Literature in and out of the college to come up with their ideas on varied topics from literature to history and films.The key note address on Theory, Genealogy and Literary Studies was delivered by Dr. Vipin.C, Associate Professor, Dept. of English, English and Foreign Languages University, Lucknow Campus.The three plenary sessions were handled by Dr. N. Sajan, Dr. K.C Muraleedharan and Dr. Assif. C. A.
3. The English Association was officially inaugurated on the 15 of February 2019. Sr. Anilesh T.T, Assistant Professor of Eglish, Govt. Brennen College inaugurated the activities of the Association for the academic year. Sri. Anilesh gave a talk on Literary theory- An Introduction.The Creative Shower, a manuscnpt magazine prepared by the first year students of the department was released by the chief quest.

1. The department of English observered Reading week from 17th to 21st of June. On 28th June, the renowned poet Prof. Veerankutty officially inaugurated the activities of the Avant garde literary club for the academic year, and gave prizes for the winners of various competitions held as part of the observance of Reading week.

3. A workshop on Orientation for Undergraduate Students on PG Entrance Examinations was organized for the final year students on 16th December. Dr. Harris K, Asst Professor of department of English, P.S.M.O College, Thirurangadi, was the Resource Person.

Sri.Sreerag P.K, faculty, Department of English, Kannur University centre, Palayad was the chief guest. A workshop on Research Methodology was organised for the final year students on January 24,2020. Sri.Sreerag P.K, faculty, Department of English, Kannur University centre, Palayad was the Resource Person.

1. The Department conducted four online lectures as part of the Web-Lecture Series Literature and Literary Studies: Past, Present and Future.
2. The series was inaugurated by Dr. R.K Biju, Asst. Professor of Physics and Principal-in-charge on August 19, 2020. The maiden lecture of the series was delivered by Dr. ArunlalMokeri, Asst.Professor and Research Guide, Dept. of English, Govt. College, Mokeri on the topic Reading Literature at the Edge of Print Capitalism.
3. The Second lecture was held on 22 September, titled National Cinema: Negotiating Cultures and Histories.  Dr. SwapnaGopinath, Asso. Professor (Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication, Pune), Research Guide, and a Fulbright Scholar (University of Rochester, USA) delivered the lecture which was followed by a discussion.
4. On October 30, Dr. Sajna Raj .N, Assistant Professor, Dept. of English, AdikaviNannaya University, Rajahmundry, delivered a lecture on Theorising Disability in Literature.
5. The final lecture of the series was delivered by Dr.Saji Mathew, Asst. Professor of English, School of Letters, M.G University, on the topic Why Theory on December 16.

1. The activities of the English Department for the academic year 2021-22 began with a one day Student Induction Programme for the I semester B.A. English students on 19 th November, 2021.
2. The department organised an online interactive session on the 7 th of December, 2021 as part of the ‘Meet the Author’ series lectures in which Dr. SwapnaGopinath, Associate Professor from Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication, Pune was the resource person.
3. An online ‘Faculty Training Programme’ was conducted on the 19 th of December, 2021 on the topic - “Departments as Dynamic Academic Units: Perspectives and Plans.” Dr. M.P. Rajan, Peer Team, NAAC, Bangalore was the resource person for the programme in which all the faculty members of the department participated.
4. The Sanoj Memorial Endowment for the academic years 2019-20 and 2020-2 were distributed to Mr. Aromal and Ms. AswathyBalan respectively on the 3 rd of January 2022 by the Head of the Department, Dr. C. Padmanabhan.
5. The department organised a caption contest in connection with Women’s Day Celebration on 8 th March 2022.

1. In connection with the Reading week held from 13-06-22 to 20-06-22, various Inter Departmental activities were conducted and prizes were distributed for the best Book Review and Debate competition.
2. As part of Keralapiravi celebration a Food Fest was organized by the Department on 01-11-22 which was a huge success.
3. An Induction programme was held for the First Semester Students on 03-11-22. The session was handled by Dr. N Sajan (Retd. Professor of English)
4. Entry Level Exams to assess the English language knowledge base of the First Semester Students were conducted on 04-11-22.The students were classified based on the marks scored and remedial coaching sessions were decided upon.
5. An Extension Programme of the Department in association with the ELA programme of SSA, Govt of Kerala commenced from 07-02-23 after signing an MoU with MMTS UP School, Mattanur. The students of the Department functioned as student facilitators and an English Drama Festival was held on 09-03-23 at the School.
6. The Inauguration of the English Association was held on 17-03-23. The chief Guest of the programme was the renowned journalist RadhakrishnanPattannur who delivered a talk on the career opportunities in Journalism.

The Department of English, Pazhassi Raja NSS College, Observed “Reading Week” from 19 - 23 June, 2024.The programme aimed to create reading habit among students through discussions, book talks, quiz competitions and open forum. On 5 July, 2024 the Department organised “Basheer Day” on the occasion of the death anniversary of the legendary writer, Vaikom Muhammed Basheer. A few of Basheer’s iconic characters were given life to, in the enactment of the characters by the students. The Department conducted a performance titled “Am I Next?” on 21 August, 2024, in solidarity with the Calcutta RG Kar medicos who was brutally raped and murdered. The English Association was inaugurated by Sri.Ranjith Vengodan, Cine & Theatre Artist, on 6 February, 2025. “MT Film Festival” was conducted on 6 & 7 February, 2025, honouring the maestro of letters, Sri. M.T. Vasudevan Nair.

I. On 12 August 2025, the Department hosted a Merit Fest to honour students for their achievements in academic and extracurricular activities. The chief guest, Dr N Sajan, Associate Professor and Head (Rtd), Department of English, SN College, Kannur, delivered a talk titled “English Studies: New Avenues and Pathways”. II. On 28 October 2025, the Department organised a lecture on “The Ethics of War: Violence, Justice, and Humanity” by A M Shinas, Associate Professor, PG Department of History, Govt. College Madappally. III. A Curtain Raiser for the National Undergraduate Colloquium 2026 was held on 08 January 2026. Dr Vipin Kumar Chirakkara, Associate Professor, The English and Foreign Languages University, Lucknow Campus, delivered a lecture titled “What Does It Mean to Do Cultural Studies: The New Archives”. The lecture served as an insightful introduction to the field of Cultural Studies. Professor Arzuman Ara, a faculty member at EFLU, Shillong Campus, also attended the event. IV. The National Undergraduate Colloquium was organised from 20 to 21 January 2026, drawing enthusiastic participation from students of various colleges both within and outside Kerala. Dr P P Ajayakumar inaugurated the event and addressed the gathering. The keynote address was delivered by Prof E V Ramakrishnan, Professor Emeritus Central University of Gujarat. Dr N Sajan, Dr A C Sreehari, and Capt Dr Linu M K were discussants. The inaugural address for the Valedictory Session was given by Pramod Vellachal, Syndicate Member, Kannur University. V. On the occasion of Valentine’s Day, the Department organised “Poetree,” a poetry writing competition, on 13 February 2026. A music programme was also conducted as part of the event. VI. A Film Fest was organised from 18 to 20 February 2026 in collaboration with the Department of Journalism. The films screened included Omar (2013) and Persepolis (2007) which introduced students to world cinema. VII. The English Association was inaugurated on 23 February 2026 by Ajesh Chandran, Creative Writer and Founder of AJUS Plays Script Lab. He addressed the students and introduced them to the scope of content writing.
